FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT EyeOnWater SETUP

1--Do I need a phone APP or a computer in order to receive leak alerts?

No. All lots were initially set up with a leak alert trigger limit of 10 Gallons Per Minute. The system will automatically email you a leak alert if your water use never falls below 10 GPM in any 24 hour period.

If you have the APP or program on your computer you can view online leak alerts that are less than the set trigger limit. You can also set the alert number to any other amount you want to in the APP or computer program.

2--When does an alert get sent to me?

If the flow of water to your lot does not drop below the trigger number explained in question number 1 above for a period of 60 consecutive minutes at any time during a 24 hour period an alert text or email message is generated. Simply put--if you receive an email alert the water flow to your lot never went below the trigger number for 60 minutes in a row in the past 24 hours.

3--What is the purpose of setting an HOURLY FLOW different than the default 10 GPM?

There are many reasons to change the default trigger limit. You may want to set it to 1 GPM and only get an email if it is over that amount. You may want to set it to 20 GPM if you know you are using more than the default limit all the time. No matter what limit you set to trigger the email you can always go online and see if you have a leak less than the default trigger number or number you set. If your water usage does not drop to 0.0 GPM for 60 consecutive minutes during a 24 hour period a leak alert is generated. It is only emailed to you if it is over your trigger number.

4--How do I convert CUBIC FEET per minute into GALLONS?

1 cubic foot per minute (ft3/min) = 7.48 gallons US per minute (gal/min).

5--How do I read my meter to determine "AT THIS MOMENT" water flow?

Flip open the cover on your meter. Lightly touch the "CIRCLE" on the extreme lower left of the LCD display.

It is located beneath the extreme left digit in the display below. It is not the circle OUTSIDE the LCD display.

You should then see the "PRESENT GALLONS PER MINUTE USAGE." In the example below it reads 0.0 GPM

Please note that the decimal points are in DIFFERENT positions in the two photos shown above.
